|Senior co-captain Owen Elliott received Individual Medalist honors|
WILLIAMSTOWN - Senior tri-captain Owen Elliott of the Tufts Golf team shot a one-under 70 on Sunday to take individual medalist honors at the Williams Fall Invitational.
The Jumbos placed third as a team at the two-day event, finishing Day 2 at 310 strokes. Tufts went one shot better on Day 1 than Day 2 after scoring a 309 for Saturday. The Jumbo team finished tied with Middlebury College at a score of 619.
Elliott took first place individually with a pair of rounds featuring seven birdies. He shot three-under on par 5's over the weekend to average 4.50 strokes on those holes. With a three-shot improvement from Day 1's 73, Elliott converted a total round of one-over 143 at the Williams Fall Invitational.
Junior co-captain Taylor Nordan shot a final round seven-over 78 to tie for 12th. Co-captain Aaron Corn was right behind with an eight-over 79 to end at tied for 26th place. Freshmen Brandon Karr and Ethan Sorkin concluded the final round with an 83 and an 85 to help the Jumbos move up the leaderboard.
Nordan posted a 74-78 to round out the tournament at ten-over 152. Corn and Karr carded the same rounds for both days by going 79 and 83. Sorkin shot a two-day total of 169 by finishing at 84 and 85.
Host Williams College won the tournament with a 297 performance in the final round. Sam Goldenring and Will Kannegieser ended up at a one-over 72 to get in the top 5 on the individual leaderboard.
Tufts Golf travels to Middlebury for the NESCAC Qualifier next weekend (Oct. 1-2). The Jumbos seek a top-four position there to advance onto the NESCAC Championship in the spring.
