Tufts is now 11-3 this season and 2-0 in NESCAC play.  They have won their last eight.  Bowdoin falls to 9-3 with the setback and 1-1 in NESCAC play.

The Jumbo got out to a good start, scoring the first seven points of the game. But, the Polar Bears scored the next seven to tie the game.  That was the way it would go for the first half of the opening frame.  With things locked at 19 the Jumbos got two free throws from senior Vincent Pace to take the lead, and they wouldn't trail after that. A jumper from senior Everett Dayton gave the Jumbos a four-point lead with 7:27 left in the half.

Soon after, Jack Simonds made a three for the Polar Bears to bring them within one, 23-22.  But that was as close as they would get, as the Jumbo answered with a Luke Rogers' layup, followed by a three from Dayton.  A layup from Pace and a three from Dayton right at the end of the half gave the Jumbos the 41-29 lead at the break.

Dayton led first half scorers for the Jumbos with 11 points, and Pace added eight points and eight rebounds.   Dayton was a perfect 3-for-3 from downtown in the first half.  For the Polar Bears, Simonds scored 10 points and added five rebounds and David Reynolds also added ten points.

The Jumbos came out of the break ready to go and three minutes into the second half they owned 13-point lead.  Sophomore Eric Savage drained a three, followed by a layup from senior Thomas Lapham, two more threes from Savage, a layup from Pace and then a three from freshman Justin Kouyoumdjian and the Jumbos were up by 29, just about six minutes into the second half. Pace added two free throws after that to increase the lead to 31, but a layup from Reynolds broke up the Jumbos 18 point unanswered streak.

Tufts would lead by as many as 32 in the second half, picking up the 87-65 win.

Pace once again posted a double-double for the Jumbos, his third consecutive and sixth this year.  He finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds, along with five assists.  Savage added 16 points of his own, along with three assists and three steals.  He was 5-for-7 from three-point range.  Freshman Will Brady added a career-high 12 points, including four threes, and pulled down five rebounds.  Dayton tallied 11 points and five assists.  Freshman Luke Rogers scored seven points and turned in seven boards.

Reynolds was the point leader for the Polar Bears with 16 points and four rebounds.  Simonds added 14 points and six boards.   Zavier Rucker turned in seven points and three rebounds and Sam Grad added six points and four rebounds.  The Polar Bears had 11 players score points and got 37 points from their bench.

The Jumbos are back in action on Friday night when they travel to Williams to continue NESCAC play with a 7 pm start in Williamstown.  Bowdoin will play again on Tuesday when they travel to Maine-Presque Isle for a 1 pm game.
