Tufts Men’s Novice Crew Continues to Impress, Varsity Improves in Sunday Races
MEDFORD - On the tail of yesterday's impressive performance against Tulane, the Tufts Novice Men's Eight racked up win number two in early-season racing by dispatching Hamilton by 17 seconds enroute to a 6:23/6:40 victory on the Malden River Sunday.
Once again Tufts broke the race open early with an aggressive start and didn't let up, as the margin increased steadily over the 2,000-meter race course.
Tufts' Varsity, while rowing more competitively than Saturday, suffered losses to Hamilton and Wentworth. The Jumbos' fortunes seem to be improving however as both losses were by significantly tighter margins than the previous day. In first-round action, Tufts lost by five seconds to Hamilton, 6:26/6:31, and then went down to a nine-second defeat to Wentworth, 6:6:24/6:33 in second-round action.
All the Tufts Crews face an off weekend coming up, and return to action at home on Saturday, April 14. The Jumbo face Wesleyan, Bates and UNH. Racing begins at 9:30 on the Malden River Course at Shoemaker Boathouse.
