    The Tufts University co-ed sailing team placed 10th at the 2016 Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Eastern semi-finals held Tuesday and Wednesday. The Jumbos failed to advance to the finals by one spot.

    The 2016 spring sports teams at Tufts University placed 140 athletes on the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) All-Academic Teams released today. That's more than any of the other 10 schools in the conference.

    The Tufts sailing team placed sixth at the 2016 New England Championship hosted by Dartmouth on Saturday and Sunday. The Jumbos were one of nine teams from the region who earned berths into the Intercollegiate Sailing Association national semi-finals to be held in San Diego starting May 31.

    Its hard to believe but spring championship season is upon us! Men’s and women’s lacrosse both round out their regular season schedules on Wednesday before beginning NESCAC Tournament play on Saturday. Men’s and women’s track will head to Amherst on Saturday looking to come back to Medford with a NESCAC Championship.
  • Co-ed Sailing Takes 6th Place at 81st Boston Dinghy Challenge Cup

    Tufts was a strong sixth out of 17 teams, one point out of fifth place, at the 81st annual Boston Dinghy Challenge Cup hosted by MIT on Saturday and Sunday. The regatta is the oldest collegiate sailing event in the country.

    Temperatures are starting to warm up and so are many Jumbo spring teams. Men’s and women’s lacrosse both have home contests this week. Baseball will host Colby for a three-game series this weekend. Softball will be home midweek before heading to Bates this weekend. Men’s and women’s track and field will be home for the Tufts Sunshine Classic this Saturday.
  • C Division Dinghy Leads Co-ed Sailing to 8th at Thompson Trophy

    In a regatta featuring 16 races in three divisions, Tufts' C boat of skipper Casey Gowrie with crews Sam Gates and Liz Fletcher placed fourth to lead the Jumbo co-ed sailing team to eighth place overall at the Thompson Trophy hosted by Coast Guard on Saturday and Sunday.

    Medford has seen some rain and some cold weather, but that won’t slow down our spring teams! Men’s lacrosse, who has spent a great deal of time on the road this year, will return home for two games this week. Women’s lacrosse hits the road on Saturday for a duel with Amherst. Both baseball and softball have NESCAC weekend stints with Trinity on the docket.

    While the top team racing squads in New England were in Connecticut competing in the New England Team Racing Championships, Tufts hosted and won the Mystic Lake Team Race on Saturday and Sunday.

    The biggest event for Tufts Athletics this week was on Monday night when women’s basketball took on Thomas More for the national championship. The Jumbos fell to the Saints 63-51 but had one of the most successful seasons in program history, making it to the title game for the first time. With the big Monday night over, Jumbo nation can focus on a busy week for spring sports teams.

    While the rest of the university was on spring break, our Jumbo teams were very busy last week playing full spring break schedules! This week has a ton of home openers on the schedule as softball opens at home on Wednesday, women’s tennis hosts Babson on Thursday, men’s and women’s track and field host the Snowflake Classic this Saturday and the men’s and women’s crew teams both have home races this Saturday on the Malden.

    The Tufts co-ed sailing team finished third of five teams at the Staake Trophy Team Race hosted by Connecticut College over the weekend. The event also serves as the New England Team Racing Championships qualifier for the Jumbos, and the team missed out by one place.

    The athletes might not be in school this week, but it’s still a busy week for Tufts Athletics. Baseball, softball, men’s tennis and women’s tennis are all on spring break trips playing busy schedules all week long. Men’s and women’s lacrosse have midweek contests against Stevenson before taking on Trinity this weekend.

    It was a big week for Tufts Athletics, and more spring teams are joining the fun this week. Women’s basketball will be playing in their third consecutive Final Four this weekend. Men’s and women’s swimming and diving will compete at the NCAA Championships. Men’s and women’s lacrosse are both in action again with NESCAC contests on the schedule.

    It should be a sweet week for Tufts Athletics as both the men’s and the women’s basketball teams will play in the Sweet 16 this weekend. The men will host NCAA Tournament sectional play for the first time in program history while the women head to Scranton for sectional play. And just as sweet—men’s and women’s track heads to Iowa to compete in the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Men’s basketball is hosting first and second round NCAA Tournament play in Cousens Gym this weekend. Women’s basketball travels to University of New England to open up tournament play.

    Junior skipper Griffin Rolander and sophomore crew Emily Shanley-Roberts of the Tufts Sailing team won the B division at the 74th annual Erwin Schell Trophy hosted by MIT on the Charles River Saturday and Sunday.

    The Jumbos are gearing up for one of the biggest weeks of the fall. Football will host undefeated Amherst on Saturday in a battle of two of the leagues best teams. Men’s soccer, women’s soccer and field hockey all have mid week contests that will could impact seeding for the NESCAC Tournament, which all three teams will begin playing in on Saturday. The men’s and women’s cross country teams both head to Wesleyan to race in their conference championship meet.
  • Co-Ed Sailing Places 10th at Northeastern's Oberg Trophy

    Junior skipper Griffin Rolander with junior crew Natalie Danziger led Tufts to a third-place finish in the B division as the Jumbo Sailing Team was 10th overall out of 18 teams at the 77th annual Oberg Trophy hosted by Northeastern on Saturday and Sunday.

    A busy two weekends at home are in the books for the Jumbos. Things won’t slow down much this week, but the Jumbos will be busy on the road this weekend. Football travels to Williams, along with field hockey and men’s and women’s soccer. The volleyball team will compete in the New England Challenge hosted by MIT. Men’s tennis will host the Boston Invitational here at Tufts. The golf team will compete in the New England Championships. Women’s sailing and coed sailing both take the water again this week at Harvard and Brown, respectively.
  • Accident Costs Sailing's Match Racing Team at New England Championship

    An unfortunate penalty during competition on the first day of the New England Match Racing Championship cost the Tufts Sailing team, which ultimately finished sixth out of eight teams at the event hosted by Salve Regina University in three-person Ynglings on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Sailing 7th of 19 at Four-Division Truxton Umsted Regatta Hosted by Navy

    Juniors Alp Rodopman and Sandy Beatty combined to finish second in the single-handed C division, leading the Tufts Sailing team to a seventh-place finish overall at the Truxton Umsted regatta hosted by Navy on Saturday and Sunday.

    Another big week for the Jumbos teams including Parents Weekend on campus this coming weekend. Football will look to remain undefeated this year, hosting undefeated Trinity on Saturday. men’s soccer, women’s soccer and field hockey all have mid week contests before heading up to Bates for a NESCAC tilt on Saturday. Volleyball has two NESCAC contests on the schedule for the weekend in Cousens Gym.
