FOUR JUMBOS SET TO COMPETE AT NCAA WOMEN'S FENCING REGIONAL

MEDFORD -- The Tufts University women's fencing team will be represented by four athletes at the 2010 NCAA Northeast Regional Championships on Sunday (Mar. 14) at Brown University.

The highest seeded Tufts fencer is sophomore Sarah Danly (Potomac, MD). She is ranked 35th among the field of 49 in the sabre competition.

Three Jumbos are entered in the epee competition. First-year Abby Hepworth (Garden City, NY) is seeded 37th in the 53-woman competition. Senior Amani Smathers (Upper Arlington, OH) is the 40th seed and first-year Kira Hoffman (Larchmont, NY) is the 42 seed.

The fencers will be competing to earn a spot into the NCAA Championship meet, which will be hosted by Harvard University March 25-28.
