Pleskus Finishes 11th at New England Women's Single-handed Regatta

Molly Pleskus sailed at her third New England Single-handed Championship

NEW LONDON, Conn. - Junior Molly Pleskus of the Tufts Sailing team finished in 11th place at the 2016 New England Women's Single-handed Championship hosted by Connecticut College on Saturday and Sunday.

In 13 races over the two days, Pleskus had finishes totaling to 117. She was four out of 10th place where Alexandra Maurillo of Connecticut College posted a 113 score. Pleskus was well in front of 12th place finisher Charlotte List also of host Connecticut College (132).

Pleskus had best showings of third place in both the third and ninth races over the weekend. She matched her 11th place effort at last year's regional single-handed event. She was 10th at the championship as a freshman.

Boston College junior Erika Reineke won the New England Women's Single-handed title in convincing fashion with a 14-race score of 28. She won an amazing nine of the starts. Reineke and three other New England qualifiers will compete at the 2016 Intercollegiate Sailing Association Single-handed Nationals in Texas in early November.
