Women's Sailing Scores 6th at Yale Inter-Conference Regatta

MaryClaire Kiernan skippered the runner-up Tufts A's

BRANFORD, Conn. - Senior skipper MaryClaire Kiernan with classmate Julia Fuller as crew placed second in A division as the Tufts University women's sailing team took sixth place at the Yale Inter-Conference Regatta held Saturday and Sunday.

With 18 teams competing in two divisions of 12 races apiece, the Jumbo teams scored 63 in A's and 144 in B's for a 207 total. They were up 16 on seventh-place St. Mary's of Maryland's 223 final score, and were 16 back of fifth-place College of Charleston (191). Yale won its own event with a 136 final.

Kiernan and Fuller's 63 score was 14 behind A division winner Rhode Island (49). The Tufts duo won the 10th race and had second-place showings in the fourth and sixth starts. Seven times in the 12 races they placed among the top five.

In B's, Tufts was 15th with junior Molly Pleskus skippering and sophomore Sabrina van Mell as crew. Their best race was the first when they took fourth place. They were also fifth in the fifth race.
