JULIA BROWNE, ASSISTANT COACH JAIME KENNEY EARN ITA NORTHEAST REGION AWARDS FOR 2011
MEDFORD - The Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) 2011 Division III Awards were announced recently and two members of the Tufts University women's tennis program were recognized. Senior tri-captain Julia Browne (Old Brookville, NY) was named Wilson/ITA Northeast Region Senior Player of the Year, and Jaime Kenney was selected as the Northeast's Assistant Coach of the Year.
Browne, the defending NCAA Singles Champion, won NESCAC Player of the Year honors for the third straight season. She has a 21-6 record in singles play for 2010-11.
Kenney took on more responsibility with the team while head coach Kate Bayard was pregnant this season, especially in the post-season. After the baby (a girl - Hazel) was born in early May, Kenney has directed the team during the post-season. Tufts is making its first-ever NCAA quarterfinal appearance, and will play Amherst College on Tuesday (May 24) at 9 am.
