|Alina Strileckis was third in the 60-meter dash|
CAMBRIDGE - Sophomore Sydney Ladner of the Tufts University women's indoor track & field team had the Jumbos' season-best marks in the 60-meter dash and the pole vault at the Gordon Kelley Invitational hosted by MIT today.
Ladner ran a time of 8.18 seconds to place second in the 60-meter dash. She also cleared 10'2 3/4" (3.12m) in the pole vault for eighth place at the meet. Both marks are career-bests and top Tufts for the 2017 season thus far.
The Jumbos had two other team-best efforts today. Junior Jennifer Sherwill in the weight throw achieved 40'1 1/4" (12.22m) distance for her season-best. She was 13th at the meet. Sophomore Brita Dawson matched Tufts' top high jump for the season, clearing 4'7 3/4" (1.42m) for 10th place at MIT. Sophomore Paige Fielding previously hit that mark at Bowdoin on January 21.
Junior Annalisa DeBari was just shade off her best in the 60-meter hurdles at MIT, finishing second overall with a time of 9.38 seconds. Her best this year is a 9.33 at home on January 14.
Freshman Alina Strileckis was right behind Ladner in the 60-meter dash, taking third place with a time of 8.26 seconds. Tufts had the sixth and seventh best times in the 3,000 meters at MIT with junior Franchesca Burgos (11:27.10) and freshman Cecelia Rosenman (11:28.77).
The Jumbos return to MIT for the New England Division III Indoor Championships next weekend (Feb. 17-18).
