LEWISTON, Maine - Tufts University won the 4x400-meters relay by over seven seconds while competing at a women's outdoor track & field quad meet hosted by Bates College and including MIT and RPI on Saturday.

The 4x4's winning time of 4:03.14 was 7.20 seconds faster than second-place Bates' 4:10.34 mark. The Jumbo foursome was junior Annalisa DeBari, freshman Nehalem Kunkle-Read, senior co-captain Rita Donohoe, and freshman Julia Gake. Their time is #25 on the DIII season-best list as of 8 p.m. Saturday night.
DeBari and Donohoe also enjoyed some individual success at the meet. DeBari improved her national ranking in the 100-meter hurdles with a 14.75 finish. Third in the race, it lowered her previous fastest time of 14.88 set April 2 at the Snowflake Classic. DeBari's new time ranks 10th in DIII. Her 12.74 time in the 100 meters was also Tufts' season-best thus far.
Donohoe won the 400 meters today with a 1:00.14 finish. She finished 0.52 ahead of second-place Claire Markonic from Bates (1:00.66). She and DeBari were also part of the 4x100-meter relay team that ran a Tufts season-best 50.16 today. Sophomore Sydney Ladner led off with Donohoe second, freshman Raquel Whiting third and DeBari anchoring.
Junior thrower Jennifer Sherwill had her best day of the outdoor season thus far. In the shot put, she finished second with a season-best 38'2" (11.63m). Her discus throw of 133'7" (40.72) placed third and ranks 26th nationally at the moment. Both marks are career-bests for Sherwill.
Senior Lindsay Atkeson earned a top 40 national time in the 3,000 steeplechase, where her 11:38.16 finish is #40 nationally and a Jumbo season-best.
Other Jumbo season-best marks recorded at Bates today included junior Brittany Bowman in the 1,500 meters where she was the runner-up with a 4:49.35 time. Sophomore Caitlin Porrazzo ran the 10,000 meters alone and her 40:43.68 is a Tufts season-best. Ladner in the pole vault cleared 10'2" (3.10m) and sophomore Brita Dawson in the long jump reached a season-best 17'2 1/4" (5.24m).
Tufts finished third with 154 team points. MIT won with 235, host Bates totaled 194 and RPI finished last with a 97 score.
The Jumbos will compete at Connecticut College's Silfen Invitational next Friday night and then host the Sunshine Classic at Dussault Track the next day.
