BOSTON - The Tufts University women's indoor track & field team's distance medley relay was one of several Divison III foursomes to post top national times in the event at Boston University's David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Saturday morning.
The Jumbo foursome of sophomore Rhemi Toth, sophomore Julia Gake, freshman Olivia Martin and senior co-captain Brittany Bowman combined for an 11:50.41 time on BU's banked track. They were seventh out of 28 teams at the meet.
Bowdoin, which entered the day as the top-ranked DMR in the nation, improved their time with an 11:43.49 mark at BU. MIT (11:43.54) and Johns Hopkins (11:47.51) also finished in front of the Jumbos. That places Tufts fourth in the nation as of Saturday mid-day.
Coast Guard (11:54.44) and Brandeis (11:57.84) were other DIII teams who earned sub-12 minute times in the race.
The DMR concluded Tufts' weekend at BU. On Friday night, Bowman set a school record in the mile with a 4:51.69 mark this is ranked #2 in the nation.
The rest of the Jumbo team is in competition at the Gordon Kelly Invitational hosted by MIT on Saturday.
