MEDFORD - The 2017-18 Tufts University women's track & field program received All-Academic Team honors as well as having seven individuals earn All-Academic honors presented by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Associatoin of America (USTFCCCA) on Thursday.
In order to earn All-Academic Team honors, a program must have at least a 3.00 cumulative team grade point average (GPA). Head coach Kristen Morwick's Tufts women carry a 3.55 team GPA, one of the top marks in the country.
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, student-athletes must meet academic and athletic criteria. They must achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.30. Competitively, they must have either competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship or finished the regular-season ranked in the national top-50 in an individual event or ranked in the national top-35 in a relay event on the official NCAA Descending Order List. The seven Tufts recipients of USTFCCCA All-Academic honors are Brittany Bowman, Annalisa DeBari , Julia Gake, Nehalem Kunkle-Read, Olivia Martin, Rhemi Toth, and Raquel Whiting.
The Jumbos tied for 11th at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Championships, their best team finish at any NCAA event since 2012. Outdoors, they were the New England Small College Athletic Conference runner-up in the spring.
