Lord, Kuan Earn All-Region Honors From American Volleyball Coaches Association
MEDFORD - The Tufts volleyball team is the only squad in NESCAC to earn two spots on the 2011 American Volleyball Coaches Association All-New England Region team announced on Thursday. Junior setter Kendall Lord (LaJolla, CA) and senior libero Audrey Kuan (Los Altos, CA) were among 14 players named overall.
Lord is ranked second in New England with 10.61 assists per set this season. The NESCAC Co-Player of the Year, she's also leading Coach Cora Thompson's Jumbos with 49 service aces. Lord is a key contributor defensively as well with 3.05 digs and 0.54 blocks per set.
Kuan, a two-time All-NESCAC pick, joins Lord in receiving their first All-Region honor. She recently surpassed 500 digs for the season and sits at 508 (4.58 per set) entering NCAA Tournament play. She topped 20 digs in a match eight times this year, with a season-high of 29 at Trinity on October 15.
Tufts (25-5, 9-1 NESCAC) finished second in the league this year and earned the program's sixth NCAA Tournament berth. Seeded fourth in the NCAA Regional, the Jumbos face #5 seed Roger Williams at Springfield College today at 5:30 pm.
