HARTFORD, Conn. – The Tufts volleyball team got a career-high 11 kills from freshman Sophia Acker as they cruised to a 3-0 win over Trinity on Saturday afternoon. With the win the Jumbos improve to 7-0 in NESCAC play with just three conference games remaining in the regular season.

The win helps the Jumbos improve to 13-4 overall this season. With the setback Trinity falls to 6-8 overall with a 0-6 mark in conference play.
The Jumbos won all three sets: 25-16, 25-14 and 25-19.
Acker led the Jumbos offensively with her 11 kills and a .400 hitting percentage. Sophomore Christina Nwankpa finished with seven kills and two blocks and junior Mackenzie Bright added eight kills to the day. Sophomore Kelly Klimo led the defensive efforts with 11 digs and senior captain Alex Garrett added nine of her own. Garrett also turned in three service aces. Junior Angela Yu took care of the setting for the Jumbos, finishing with 20 assists.
Colette Scheffers was the offensive leader for the Bantams, finishing with seven kills and Rachel Underwood helped with five. Underwood was also the dig leader with nine, and Ali Odermann matched her with nine digs of her own. Jessica Yang ran the offense, finishing with 12 assists.
The Jumbos are back in action on Friday when they host Middlebury for a 7 pm start in Cousens Gym. Trinity next plays when they travel to Williams on Friday with an 8 pm scheduled start.
