MEDFORD – Tufts University senior RJ Hall is one of three pitchers named to the D3baseball.com All-New England first team announced today.
Hall is the only pitcher and one of just two players from the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) among the 14 players selected to the first team overall. It's the first D3baseball All-Region honor for the 6'4", 220-pound righty. Three New England teams were released in total.
The ace for the NESCAC champion Jumbos this spring, Hall won eight of his nine starts and finished 8-0 with a 1.45 earned run average and 48 strikeouts in 62 innings. He allowed less than a hit and a walk combined per inning with 45 hits and just 15 walks surrendered.
In Tufts' NESCAC East opener versus Bates on March 29, Hall pithced a three-hit shutout with seven strikeouts. He allowed just two earned runs in his first 23 innings of the year. He hurled a five-hit shutout against Middlebury in the Jumbos' opening game of the NESCAC Tournament, recording a season-best 10 K's. He also earned the win in Tufts' NCAA opener, helping the Jumbos advance to the Regional final.
Named NESCAC's Pitcher of the Year and first team All-Conference, Hall was 3-0 with a 1.17 era in 23 innings of divisional play.
Head coach John Casey's Jumbos finished 31-11 and won their sixth conference title.
