LEWISTON, Maine -- Five different players scored as No. 16 nationally ranked Tufts University rolled to a 5-0 NESCAC victory over the Bates field hockey team on Saturday at Campus Avenue Field.

The Jumbos (9-4, 6-2 NESCAC) moved into third place in the NESCAC with the victory, while Bates (6-5, 2-5 NESCAC) is in a three-way tie for eighth place with Colby and Wesleyan.

Hannah Park, Dakota Sikes-Keilp and Hanaa Malik each contributed a goal and an assist to the Jumbos' cause, as Tufts outshot Bates 22-4 and maintained an 11-2 advantage in penalty corners.

The first half was played in the middle of the field for the most part, with Maggie Chapman's 11th-minute goal standing as the game's only score for the first 31 minutes. On Tufts' first penalty corner of the game, Celia Lewis's pass from the top of the circle found Park near the face of the goal, and her short pass to Chapman was knocked in at the left goalpost.

Sikes-Keilp scored her third goal of the season in the 32nd minute, knocking in a rebound from 8 yards away off of a Tufts shot blocked by a Bates defender, to give Tufts a 2-0 lead at the half.

Rachel Terveer scored her third goal of the season just 42 seconds into the second half, poking in an easy finish after a cross from Malik found its way across the face of Bates' goal.

Malik added her third goal of the year in the 54th minute to make it 4-0, redirecting a shot by Sikes Keilp on a penalty corner. Park tacked on her sixth goal of the year, taking advantage of a loose ball in front of the Bates net in the 60th minute.

Emily Polinski had two saves for Tufts and Libby DesRuisseaux played the final 16 minutes in goal. For Bates, starting goalie Cristina Vega made four saves, then was relieved by Katie Knox, who made five more saves in the final 32 minutes.

Bates hosts Amherst on Sunday at noon. Tufts will play at Williams next Saturday.
