Golf Finishes 7th Out of 20 Teams at Johnson & Wales Tournament

Henry Hughes was low Jumbo this weekend with a two-day 154.

CRANSTON, R.I. – Senior co-captain Justin Feldman shot a three-over par 75 to lead the Tufts University golf team on the second day of the Wildcats Spring Invitational hosted by Johnson & Wales University at Cranston Country Club on Sunday.

Tufts finished seventh as a team at the two-day tournament. Their four-best scores on Sunday totaled 314 strokes, added to a 312 score from Saturday for a 626 final. They were four strokes behind fifth-place Mass.-Dartmouth, who had a 622 team score. Twenty teams overall competed.

Also scoring for the Jumbos on Sunday was sophomore Harry Theodore (78), freshman Travis Clauson (80) and junior Brandon Karr (80). Sophomore Henry Hughes was the fifth Jumbo with an 81 today. Theodore and Clauson joined Feldman in scoring on both days for Tufts.

Hughes finished as the lowest Jumbo, as he shot 73 on Saturday and finished with a two-day 154 (+12) that tied for 23rd place. Feldman was 80-75-155 for the weekend, tied for 28th.

Amherst College won the tournament by four strokes with a team total of 596, ahead of Division I Providence College (600).

Day one individual leader Cole Vissicchio from Amherst shot 72 today to win medalist honors with a 71-72-143 (+1) tournament. Husson's Gavin Dugas was one stroke behind after shooting a 69 on Sunday (75-69-144).

Tufts wraps up its regular-season next weekend at the Lafrance Hospitality Invitational hosted by Mass.-Dartmouth on Friday and Saturday.
