MEDFORD – Sophomore Rick Boer and senior James Miller of the Tufts University men's rowing team both earned spots on the 2019 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) All-Conference teams announced today.
Boer is one of 10 student-athletes from the conference selected to the first team, while Miller is on the 10-member second team. It's the first NESCAC All-Conference honor for both.
From the start of the spring season on April 6 through the National Invitational Rowing Championships (NIRC) this past weekend Boer sat in the stroke seat for the Jumbos' first varsity eight. Miller was part of the bow pair in six out of seven races for the Jumbos, sitting in the bow seat twice and in the 2-seat for the last three races.
Tufts' first varsity eight had its best finish at the New England Rowing Championships with a fifth place in the grand final on May 4. The Jumbos were then fourth in the NESCAC Championship, competed as part of the NIRC on May 12.
During the regular-season, the Jumbos had victories against NESCAC opponents Bates on April 13 and Williams on April 27.
