MEDFORD – Junior forward Max Jacobs of the Tufts University men's soccer team has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Player of the Week following the Jumbos 1-0 win at Bates College.
Jacobs came on as a reserve at Bates in the only contest of the week for Tufts. His right-footed strike in the 104th minute earned the Jumbos the victory and continued their unbeaten streak, which is now at 28 games. Head coach Josh Shapiro's team improved to 7-0 overall and 3-0 in the league.
This is the first NESCAC Player of the Week honor for the men's soccer team this season. The last Jumbo to earn the honor was Jacobs' teammate Joe Braun in October of last season. For Jacobs, this is the first time he has been named Player of the Week.
Jacobs has two goals and three assists on the season for seven points. He ranks fifth in assists, 11th in points, and 17th in goals in the NESCAC rankings. Within the Jumbos, he is tied for third in goals and points while tied for second in assists.
Jacobs and the Jumbos continue on the road as they head to Wesleyan University on Wednesday for a 7:30 pm start before returning home to host Trinity College on Saturday.
