BOSTON – Competing in the eight-kilometer sub-varsity race at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association Championship, Tufts University Men's Cross Country placed fourth out of 10 teams on Saturday.
The Jumbos' top five finishers compiled scores totaling to 144. They were 24 behind third-place Merrimack. The race included New England Division I, III and III teams from New England and Division I Providence won the sub-varsity race with a 25 score.
The top finisher for Tufts was sophomore John Pappo who ran 27:28 for 29th place overall out of the 93 competitors. Freshman Eli Kritzer was not far behind with a 27:33.4 time for 31st place, second on the Jumbos.
Freshman Dan Gizzo came across the finish line in 27:53.4 to score third for the Jumbos with his 42nd-place finish. Junior Joe Berrafati was the fourth Jumbo to score with a 28:13.6 mark that was 50th overall. Fifth for Tufts was freshman Oliver Printy in 28:30.2 (54th).
The Connecticut College Invitational is on the schedule for the Jumbos next Saturday.
