SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The Tufts University women's rowing team competed for half a day at the Head of the Fish Regatta on Saturday to complete their fall season.
The day started off better than expected, with only light wind and rain. However, the cold and dampness grew increasingly miserable as the afternoon wore on. The second half of the day's racing was cancelled.
Tufts highlights included senior tri-captain Libby Lichter placing third in the Women's Collegiate single with a 14:19.79 mark. The Women's Varsity eight, as well Second Varsity A and B boats raced in the tough conditions. The second Varsity A boat placed second in their field over Wesleyan and UMass Amherst, timing 11:57.68. The Second Varsity B boat also placed second in their field over Wesleyan and Trinity (13:07.97). The WV8 rowed a 12:00.17 time in their race.
The women's team took home gold, and a fish head trophy, with the Women's Novice 4+. The lineup was coxswain Jordan Sclar, stroke Sarah Flower, Rachel Miller, Tina Feng, and Karen Dooley in bow. They combined for a 13:48.29 time that was first in the field of 20.
