WORCESTER – Tufts University women's rowing won three of its four races at Lake Quinsigamond on Sunday.
Tufts' second, third and fourth varsity eights were all victorious. The only Jumbo eight not to win was the first varsity in their Brown Cup race against WPI.
WPI's second-ranked 1V8 won a five-team race with a 7:00.0 time across the 2,000-meter course. Tufts was third in the race at 7:18.54, behind second-place William Smith (7:07.29). Skidmore rowed fourth (7:22.69) and Clark finished fifth (7:23.79).
The Jumbos won the second varsity eight race by over eight seconds. They finished in 7:15.9, with WPI second in 7:24.22. William Smith came across the finish line third (7:44.36) and Clark was fourth in an 8:06.12 time.
The two-team third varsity eight race between Tufts and WPI was won by a boat-length by the Jumbos 7:34.4 to 7:39.56. The Jumbo 4V8 also had a closely-contested win against WPI 7:54.4 to 8:00.82.
Starting for the Tufts 1st varsity eight was coxswain Gabby Borenstein, stroke Lindsay Naber, 7 Camden Myles, 6 Bibi Lichauco, 5 Grace Fabrycky, 4 Amanda Downing, 3 Sophie Bredenkamp, 2 Prairie Hammer and bow Libby Lichter.
The Tufts line-up in the second varsity boat was coxswain Jordan Sclar, stroke Karen Dooley, 7 Miranda Finestone, 6 Miriam Weiss, 5 Lauren Drohosky, 4 Alicia Heia, 3 Laurel Haeger, 2 Madeleine Clarke and bow Grace Duisberg.
The Jumbos are off next weekend prior to the New England Rowing Championships on May 4.
