Dorr, Garrido Fall in Quarterfinals at ITA Women's Tennis Regional

Mathilda Rigby played in both singles and doubles at the ITA Regional today.

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Jumbo Women's Tennis doubles pair of sophomores Maggie Dorr and Caroline Garrido advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) New England Regionals before they were eliminated on Saturday.

Seeded #1 in the ITA New England doubles bracket, Dorr and Garrido defeatred Emily Roeper and Carolina Merz from Babson College in the round of 16 today 8-1. The Jumbos were knocked out by the Wesleyan pair of Kristina Yu and Sophie Henderson 8-6 in the quarters.

Tufts had two doubles pairs and two singles players in action today. Dorr was also in singles, losing in the round of 16 to Serim Jin from Wesleyan 4-6, 6-4, 10-2. Jumbo freshman Mathilda Rigby was also eliminated in the round of 16 singles by Alexis Almy from Wesleyan 6-2, 6-2. Rigby joined classmate Maddie Suk in doubles where they lost a very tight 8-7 (9) match versus Anya Ramras and Maggie Owensby from Amherst in the round of 16.

The Jumbos will finish their fall season as the New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament hosted by Smith and Mount Holyoke October 11-13.
