losing his #2 match

CAMBRIDGE -- The Tufts University men's squash team opened the
season at Harvard against NESCAC rivals Bates College, losing
9-0.
At #3, Jumbo freshman Sheldon Taylor (Atlanta,
GA) played tightly against Bobby Burns in a battle of the
big men. Taylor lost in three close games, but controlled much of
the left wall with hard, tight drives. Tufts senor Scott
Leighton (Summit, NJ) at #5 played a highly spirited match
where he dropped behind losing the first two games. Leighton
rallied back to capture the third game and was up in the fourth
looking to force the match to the fifth game, but fell short.
Senior John Subranni (Longport, NJ) and senior
co-captain Max Dalury (Glyndon, MD) also lost in
close four-game matches. The most exciting match of the evening saw
senior co-captain Zach Bradley (Baltimore, MD)
play a five-game thriller against Jordan Greenberg at #2. Both
players were moving extremely well and the match was full of
twisting lunges and spectacular gets. Greenberg took the rubber
game when Bradley's length fell a bit short giving Greenberg some
offensive openings.
The Jumbos play at Williams on Sunday as the 2009-10 season gets
going.
