AMHERST -- The 19th ranked Tufts University men's squash team
split its opening two matches of the second semester on Saturday in
round robin play at Amherst College. The Jumbos defeated NESCAC foe
Colby College 6-3, but lost to conference rival Middlebury 8-1.
Junior Andrew Kim (Wayland, MA) was the lone
Jumbo to win in both of his #9 matches. He took a four-game final
against Colby and won in five games against Middlebury, including a
decisive 11-9 score in the fifth.
Senior co-captain #3 Zach Bradley (Baltimore,
MD) and freshman #6 Sheldon Taylor (Atlanta,
GA) had very competitive days. Both went four games to win
their matches against Colby, and both lost in five games against
the Panthers.
Senior co-captain Max Dalury (Glyndon, MD),
sophomore Henry Miller (Philadelphia, PA), and
senior Scott Leighton (Summit, NJ) were all
three-game winners against Colby. The loss to #17 Middlebury was
much closer than it looked, with four of the nine matches going
five games and three more lasting four games.
Tufts continues round-robin play at Amherst on Sunday.
