WATERVILLE, Me. - The surging Colby College men's soccer team
won for the third straight time and are unbeaten in the last four
contests after earning a 1-0 win over Tufts University on Saturday
in NESCAC play.
After suffering a 4-0 loss at home to Bowdoin on Sept. 27, Colby
has rebounded to a 3-0-1 record over the past four games in moving
to 6-3-1 overall and 3-3 in the conference. The Mules moved into
fourth place in the league with nine points. Tufts dropped to 4-4-1
overall and 2-2-1 NESCAC.
Andrew Meisel (Newtown, CT) had the lone goal of the game just
8:50 into the first half. Colby defender Cory Hendrickson (Duxbury,
MA) hit a ball to the left side where Meisel cut it in and beat
Tufts keeper Alan
Bernstein (Wayne, NJ) to the far post.
Ben Joslin (Chicago, Il) remains unbeaten on the season in goal
after taking over the starting job after the Bowdoin contest. He
made five stops in earning his second shutout of the season. The
Jumbos also received five stops from Bernstein.
