CAMBRIDGE - The Tufts University men's squash team scored a trio of victories on Sunday to wrap up their first semester of action with a 4-6 record. The Jumbos defeated local rivals Boston University 8-1, MIT 8-1 and Boston College 6-3.
Six Jumbos won all three of their matches. Senior captain Alex Gross (Washington, DC) was 3-0 in the top spot, including a 11-2, 11-5, 11-4 final against BC's Milo Watanabe. In #2 matches, senior Ben Rind (Rockville, MD) swept the day to finish the semester with a 6-4 record. Junior #3 Hank Miller (Philadelphia, PA) battled to two four-game victories during a 3-0 weekend.
Freshman Michael Abboud (Bronxville, NY) won all three of his matches at #4, allowing only 11 points against MIT's John Kucharczyk. Senior Andrew Kim (Wayland, MA) had a five-game win over MIT's Austin Anderson as part of his 3-0 day. Freshman Jeremy Ho (Reston, VA) also won in every match, including quick wins against his BU and BC opponents.
Freshman Tesfa Hailu (Boston, MA) won two out of his three matches for the Jumbos.
The Jumbos are off until January 22 when they resume the 2010-11 season at Amherst.
