PROVIDENCE -- The Tufts University men's squash team completed
its 2009-10 regular-season with a pair of matches against Ivy
League opponents on Saturday. Coach Doug Eng's Jumbos, ranked 19th
by the College Squash Association, lost 7-2 to #14 Brown University
and 9-0 to #7 Dartmouth College. Brown hosted both matches.
The Jumbos, now 10-11, were very competitive against the host
Bears. The wins came at #3 by senior co-captain Zach
Bradley (Baltimore, MD) and by junior Ben Rind
(Rockville, MD) at #4, both in four games. Bradley rallied
from down 1-0 and Rind broke a 1-1 tie with a 13-11 win in the
third game before taking the match 11-8 in the fourth.
Additionally, senior John Subranni (Longport, NJ)
lost the #2 match in four games, while senior co-captain
Max Dalury (Glyndon, MD) at #5, freshman
Sheldon Taylor (Atlanta, GA) at #6, and senior
Scott Leighton (Summit, NJ) at #7 scored well in
their three-game losses.
Against Dartmouth, junior #1 Alex Gross (Washington,
DC) was the only Jumbo to last four games. However, 23
points by Subranni in the second match and Bradley in the third,
along with 25 by Taylor at #6, represented Tufts well.
The Jumbos will now await their seeding and schedule for the
2010 Team Nationals at Yale next weekend.
