NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Tufts University men's squash team advanced to the semi-finals of the Summers Cup at the 2010 College Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships with a 9-0 victory against Hamilton College on Friday morning. The Jumbos, seeded third in the Summers Cup bracket and ranked #19 overall, will face #2 seed and 18th ranked Amherst College in the semis on Saturday at noon.

On February 7, Tufts had a 6-3 victory over Hamilton in a consolation match at the NESCAC Championships. They improved on that result by three wins on Friday, moving their record to 11-11 overall. Several of the matches were tightly contested against the #22 Continentals (sixth seed in Summers Cup), but the Jumbos pulled out all of them.

Jumbos Ben Rind (Rockville, MD) at #4, Scott Leighton (Summit, NJ) at #7, Henry Miller (Philadelphia, PA) at #8, and Andrew Kim (Wayland, MA) at #9 all won in five games. Leighton and Miller trailed their matches 2-0 and won three straight, while Rind was down 2-1 before winning, Four-game wins were recorded by senior John Subranni (Longport, NY) in the second match and senior Max Dalury (Glyndon, MD) in the fifth match. Jumbos Alex Gross (Washington, DC), Zack Bradley (Baltimore, MD), and freshman Sheldon Taylor (Atlanta, GA) won in straight games.

Tufts lost 6-3 to Amherst during the NESCAC Tournament on February 6. The CSA Team Championships are being held at Yale University.
