NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Tufts University men's squash team
finished their regular season, and their weekend, in fine fashion
with a 7-2 victory against George Washington University (GW) in the
19-20 playoff game of the Summers Cup at the 2010 College Squash
Association (CSA) Team Championships on Sunday.
With the victory, coach Doug Eng's Jumbos finished the year as
the #19 ranked squad in the CSA. Tufts finished the regular season
with a 12-12 record, matching the 2006-07 team's mark for the most
wins in the last 10 seasons. Tufts won two of three matches in the
Summers Cup hosted by Yale this weekend.
Junior Alex Gross (Washington, DC) was
undefeated this weekend in #1 matches. On Sunday, he came from
behind 2-1 to win the fourth and fifth games by 11-5 scores to take
the match. Senior co-captain and #3 Zach Bradley
(Baltimore, MD) also went 3-0 for Tufts during the
weekend, winning against his GW opponent in three. Junior
Ben Rind (Rockville, MD) and senior Scott
Leighton (Summit, NJ) both also completed unbeaten
weekends on Sunday. Rind won in three games at #4 and Leighton was
a four-game winner at #7.
The Jumbos won a hard-fought match over the Colonels on Sunday.
Sophomore Henry Miller (Philadelphia, PA) came
back from down 2-1 to win the eighth match in five. Tufts had two
other four-game wins.
The CSA Individual Championships at Trinity March 5-7 is all
that remains on the schedule.
