Tufts senior John Subranni allowed just 13
points in his #2 match win

HARTFORD -- The Tufts University men's squash team is officially
on a roll, winning its fifth straight match and improving to 9-7
overall with an 8-1 victory over Connecticut College in the first
round of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC)
Championships at Trinity College on Friday night.
Tufts, ranked 19th in the February 4 College Squash Association
poll, defeated the #26 Camels and will move on to play #10 Williams
College in the NESCAC quarterfinals on Saturday at Trinity
beginning at 10:30 am. Connecticut College dropped into the loser's
bracket, where they will play Colby on Saturday at Wesleyan.
Seeded seventh in the draw, Tufts won six matches in three games
against the 10th seeded Camels. Senior John Subranni
(Longport, NJ) was the most efficient winner for Tufts,
taking the #2 match 11-5, 11-5, 11-3. Classmate Scott
Leighton (Summit, NJ) surrendered 15 points while winning
his match at #8. After the losing the first game at #7, sophomore
Henry Miller (Philadelphia, PA) rallied to 11-5,
11-4, 11-2 wins and took the match.
The team's current five-match winning streak is its longest in
over a decade.
