HARTFORD -- The Tufts University men's squash finished its play
in the 2010 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC)
Championships with a 6-3 victory over Hamilton College in a
consolation match on Sunday morning at Trinity. The Jumbos finished
the weekend with a 2-2 record.
Tufts (10-9 overall) swept the top-of-the-order matches against
Hamilton. Junior Alex Gross (Washington, DC) won
the first game at #1 12-10 and went on to take three straight.
Senior #2 John Subranni (Lonport, NJ) was up 2-0
before losing a close third game, but won the match in four. Senior
co-captain Zach Bradley (Baltimore, MD) was a
14-12 winner in the first game of the third match before winning
the next two smoothly.
In a competitive match between the 19th ranked Jumbos, who were
the seventh seed at NESCACs, and the 25th ranked Continentals, who
were the #9 seed, Tufts also received four-game wins from junior
Ben Rind (Rockville, MD) at #5, sophomore
Henry Miller (Philadelphia, PA) at #7, and junior
Andrew Kim (Wayland, MA) at #9.
The Jumbos will conclude their regular-season at Brown on
Saturday, where they will play the Bears at 3 pm followed by a
match against Dartmouth.
