NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Tufts University men's squash team dropped a pair of 9-0 matches to national top 20 teams on Sunday at Yale University. The #23 Jumbos lost to #14 Saint Lawrence and #16 George Washington.
Tufts played several competitive matches in the loss to GW. At #3, junior Hank Miller (Philadelphia, PA) lost in four including an incredible 22-20 final in the first game. He won the second game 12-10, before losing by 12-10 scores in the third and fourth games to drop the match. Senior #4 Andrew Kim (Wayland, MA) also lost in four, winning 11-9 in the third game to stay alive. Freshman Michael Abboud (Bronxville, NY) also won the third game (11-7) of his four-game loss at #5.
Senior captain Alex Gross (Washington, DC) had a five-game loss at #1 against Saint Lawrence. He won the second and third games to go up 2-1, but dropped the next two including 11-9 in the fifth. Senior Ben Rind (Rockville, MD) posted a 13-11 victory in the third game of his match at #2 before losing in four. Kim was competitive in a #4 loss, including a 12-10 second-game victory.
The Jumbos (4-10) travel to Colby and Bowdoin next weekend.
