WATERVILLE, Me. -- Harry Smith and Alex Fulton each earned their 10th victories of the season and the 24th-ranked Colby College men's squash team earned an 8-1 victory over 23rd-ranked Tufts University on Friday at the Dunaway Squash Courts.
In the #1 match, Smith was leading 2-0 after winning 11-2 and 11-9 in the opening two games, but Jumbo senior captain Alex Gross (Washington, DC) fought back for 11-9 and 11-8 wins in games three and four. Smith closed out the match with an 11-7 win. Meanwhile, Fulton had an easier time of it by allowing just 13 points in three games at the third spot. Smith and Fulton are both 10-6 on the season.
William Sullivan was a winner at the second position for Colby (7-9). Daniel Lesser, Trey Simpson, Will Hochman, Steve Carroll, and Pete Gabranski were the other winners for the Mules.
Senior Andrew Kim (Wayland, MA) won in five games at the fourth position for Tufts. He was up 2-0 before losing the next two and deciding the match with an 11-8 fifth-game final. Jumbos Ben Rind (Rockville, MD) at #2 and Andrew Meleney (Greenwich, CT) in the eighth match both lost in four.
The Jumbos fell to 4-11 with their fifth consecutive loss.
