BRUNSWICK, Me. - The #25 Tufts men's squash team completed a weekend trip to Maine with a 9-0 loss at #19 Bowdoin on Saturday afternoon. The Jumbos had played at Colby College on Friday night.
Tufts received competitive play from senior #1 Alex Gross (Washington, DC), senior #2 Ben Rind (Rockville, MD) and freshman #7 Jeremy Ho (Reston, VA). Rind and Ho both extended their opponents to five games. Rind won the second and fourth games in a back-and-forth match before losing the fifth 11-6. Ho had leads of 1-0 and 2-1, but Bowdoin's Christopher Jayne rallied for the win with 13-11 and 12-10 victories.
In the first match, Gross won the first game against Bowdoin's Andrew Bernard 11-7, but the Polar Bear won the second through fourth games to win the match. That included a 16-14 third game. Tufts junior Luke Metcalf (South Pomfret, VT) scored 25 points during a three-game loss in the ninth match.
Tufts (4-12) will play in the NESCAC Championship at Trinity this coming weekend (Feb. 4-6). Pairings will be announced this week.
