BOSTON - The top four players all won their matches as the 22nd ranked Tufts University men's squash team posted a 6-3 victory against #31 Northeastern University on Thursday night. The win stopped a nine-match losing streak for the Jumbos, who improved to 5-15 overall.
Among the top four, Tufts freshman Michael Abboud (Bronxville, NY) won most convincingly by allowing 18 points in the #3 match. Junior Henry Miller (Philadelphia, PA) was nearly as good, giving up 21 points during his #2 victory. Senior Alex Gross (Washington, DC) lost the first game at #1, but stormed back to take the match in four. Senior Andrew Kim (Wayland, MA) won the third and fourth games 11-9 and 11-7 respectively for a victory at #3.
Sophomore Andrew Meleney (Greenwich, CT) produced a four-game win in the seventh match, while freshman Ben Briggs (Sherborn, MA) won a competitive eighth contest in three games to give the Jumbos their six victories.
Tufts plays two matches at Vassar on Sunday to close their regular season.
