HARTFORD - The Tufts men's squash team, seeded 10th in this weekend's NESCAC Championship hosted by Trinity College, lost 9-0 to seventh seed Wesleyan University in a first round match on Friday night.
Tufts (4-13) will move over to Wesleyan University to continue play in the conference tournament tomorrow. In their next match on Saturday at 12:15 pm, they will face the loser of #8 Colby and #9 Hamilton's first-round contest. The Wesleyan Cardinals play second seed Williams tomorrow in the quarterfinal round at 1:30 pm.
None of the Jumbos went down easily despite losing all nine matches. Senior Alex Gross (Washington, DC) and junior Hank Miller (Philadelphia, PA) both lost in four games. Gross rallied to win the third game at #1 by a 14-12 score, but lost the fourth game closely 11-9. Miller led 1-0 in the third match after starting with an 11-8 win, but he dropped the next three.
Senior Ben Rind (Rockville, MD) was tied 1-1 in the second match after an 11-9 win, but had to default. Senior Andrew Kim (Wayland, MA) had 13-11 and 16-14 losses during his #4 match.
