Men's Squash Team Finishes Off 2-0 Opening Day with 7-2 Victory at Boston University

Sophomore Gordon Silverman won a competitive four-game match at #4

BOSTON - The Tufts men's squash team earned a 7-2 victory at Boston University on Saturday afternoon to post a 2-0 record on the opening day of the 2012-13 season. The Jumbos had an earlier 9-0 win against Vermont.

Tufts, ranked 27th in the Dunlop Preseason Team Rankings, won the top seven matches against #48 BU. Jumbos won the first three matches in three games, and of the four other victories three were in four games and one went five.

Freshman Brandon Weiss (Phoenix, MD) won the most competitive match of the day at #5. He was down two games against Jonathan Chambers before rallying to take the match with 11-5, 11-6, and 11-5 wins. Jumbo sophomore Elliot Kardon (Weston, MA) broke a 1-1 tie in the seventh match with 11-1 wins in the third and fourth for a victory.

Sophomore co-captain Zach Schweitzer (Huntingdon Valley, PA) defeated BU's Chaiyatat Ben Bunjapamai 11-8, 11-1, 11-3 in the #1 match.

The Jumbos will wrap up the weekend with a match against #33 Boston College at MIT on Sunday afternoon.
