Jumbo Men's Squash Finishes Off Unbeaten Weekend with Sunday's 8-1 Win Over BC

Hugo Meggitt contributed a four-game win at #6

CAMBRIDGE - The Tufts men's squash team earned a decisive 8-1 victory agaisnt Boston College on Sunday to finish their opening weekend of the 2012-13 season with a 3-0 record. Tufts had victories over Vermont and Boston University on Saturday.

The Jumbos were #27 in the Dunlop preseason rankings and Boston College was #33. Despite the lopsided final score, five of the matches went four or five games.

Jumbo sophomore co-captain Zach Schweitzer (Huntingdon Valley, PA) trailed BC's Milo Watanabe 2-1 before coming back to win with a pair of 11-8 victories in the #1 match. Sophomore Gordon Silverman (Phoenix, AZ) took a back-and-forth match at #4 by winning the fifth game 11-3. Sophomore Elliot Kardon (Weston, MA) also had a five-game win at #7 for Tufts.

Of the Jumbos' three-game wins in the match, freshman Aditya Advani (New Delhi, India) lost just six points in a strong victory at #2. BC's Sam Henderson gave them their only win at #3.

The Jumbos play at MIT next on November 28.
