CAMBRIDGE - The 15th ranked Bates College men's squash team gave Tufts its first loss of the season, 9-0, on Friday night in a match played at Harvard University.
The Bobcats won decisively in the majority of the matches, including an 11-0, 11-3, 11-4 victory by Ahmed Abdel Khalek at #1.
The most competitive match played out at #2 between Tufts' Aditya Advani (New Delhi, India) and Bates' Kristian Muldoon. They went back-and-forth, with Advani winning the fourth game 11-7 to force a decisive fifth. That was won by Muldoon, 11-9.
Jumbo freshman Brandon Weiss (Phoenix, MD) went four games against Bates' Filip Michalsky. Weiss won the first 11-6 before Michalsky rallied for 11-3, 12-10, 11-7 wins to take the sixth match. Tufts junior co-captain Jeremy Ho (Reston, VA) scored 21 points in his three-game loss to R.J. Keating in the third match.
Tufts (4-1), ranked 29th, faces a busy day on Saturday with a match against Harvard in the morning (10 am) and versus Navy in the evening (7 pm). Bates is even busier on Saturday as they will play Boston University, Bryant, and MIT.
