Men's Squash Falls in Close Match Against Hobart College, 6-3

Freshman Aditya Advani was the #1 winner for Tufts versus Hobart

NEW HAVEN, CT - Freshman Aditya Advani (New Delhi, India) won the #1 match, but the Tufts men's squash team lost 6-3 to Hobart College in a match played at Yale on Saturday evening.

Advani rolled to an 11-4, 11-3, 11-7 win over Hobart's William Boyle at #1. The Jumbos also received victories at #4 by freshman Brandon Weiss (Phoenix, MD) and at #5 by sophomore Elliot Kardon (Weston, MA). Both won in three games.

Of the six Tufts losses, one came in five games and three others were in four games as the match was played very tightly. Freshman Aaron Fernandez (Washington, DC) was down 2-0 before rallying for 11-6 and 12-10 wins, but he lost the decisive fifth at #6. Sophomore Gordon Silverman (Phoenix, AZ) and junior Ben Briggs (Sherborn, MA) lost the #4 and #5 matches in four games, respectively.

The Jumbos droped below .500 with the loss to 5-6. According to the Dunlop Men's College Squash Team Rankings as of January 13, Tufts was ranked #30 and Hobart was at #29.

Tufts finishes the weekend with a match against Stanford at Yale on Sunday.
