Jumbo Men's Squash Finishes Weekend with 7-2 Loss Versus Stanford

Gordon Silverman had one of the Jumbo wins in a long #7 match

NEW HAVEN, CT - Wrapping up its first weekend of action in 2013, the Tufts men's squash team lost 7-2 against Stanford on Sunday in a match played at Yale.

Freshman Aditya Advani (New Delhi, India) improved his record to 9-3 for the season with a quick win in the #1 match by 11-6, 11-1, and 11-4 scores. The other Jumbo win came from sophomore Gordon Silverman (Phoenix, AZ) in the seventh match. He outlasted Wyatt Hong 11-5, 11-13, 11-2, 13-15, 11-7.

Three Jumbo defeats were in at least four games, including a tough five-game loss at #8 by junior Ben Briggs (Sherborn, MA). He had leads of 1-0 and 2-1 before falling in the fourth and fifth games to drop the match.

Stanford is the #25 team and Tufts is #30 in the current Dunlop Men's College Squash Team Rankings.

With a winless weekend, the Jumbo record dropped to 5-7 overall. They will play in a round robin at Bowdoin next weekend (Jan. 26-26).
