Men's Squash Stops Six-Match Slide with 6-3 Victory over MIT at Maine Event

Freshman Brandon Weiss had one of six Jumbo wins over MIT

BRUNSWICK, ME - The Tufts men's squash team completed its weekend at the Maine Event round robin tournament with a 6-3 win against MIT at Bowdoin on Sunday afternoon.

The Jumbo wins came by freshman Aditya Advani (New Delhi, India) at #1, junior co-captain Jeremy Ho (Reston, VA) at #2, freshman Brandon Weiss (Phoenix, MD) at #5, sophomore Elliot Kardon (Weston, MA) at #6, freshman Aaron Fernandez (Washington, DC) at #7, and junior Ben Briggs (Sherborn, MA) at #8, where he lost just 12 points in three games. Ho broke a 1-1 tie at #2 to win that match with 11-9 and 11-6 scores in the third and fourth games.

In the #3 match, Tufts sophomore Hugo Meggitt (Princeton, NJ) lost in a back-and-forth five-game match when MIT's Gray Riley won the fifth game 11-9.

Tufts, ranked #30 in the January 20 Dunlop Men's College Squash Team Rankings, improved to 6-9 overall with the win over #33 MIT.

The Jumbos play next at the NESCAC Championship tournament hosted by Trinity next weekend. Tournament seeds will be announced during the week.
