Junior co-captain Jeremy Ho won a five-game match at #3 for Tufts

WALLINGFORD, CT - Tufts and Hobart staged an outstanding battle in the consolation final of the Conroy (D) Division at the 2013 College Squash Association National Team Championships on Sunday. Hobart ended up with a 5-4 victory.
Both teams advanced to the consolation finals with upset wins in the semis, Tufts over Haverford and Hobart against Johns Hopkins. Tufts is the #32 national seed and eighth in the Conroy Division, while Hobart is #31 and seventh respectively.
Only three of the nine matches were decided in three games, including a #1 victory by Jumbo freshman Aditya Advani (New Delhi, India). He allowed just 18 points. Otherwise, four individual matches went five games and two others were determined in four games.
Tufts ended up with wins in the top three matches. Sophomore Zach Schweitzer (Huntingdon Valley, PA) was up 2-0 in the second match before Hobart's McGee O'Neil won the third and fourth games. Schweitzer took the match 11-4 in the fifth. Jumbo junior co-captain Jeremy Ho (Reston, VA) won a back-and-forth five-game match at #3, overcoming 1-0 and 2-1 deficits.
In the sixth match, Hobart's Peter Sammis won in five games against Jumbo freshman Brandon Weiss (Phoenix, MD). Down at #8, Eric DeRose won a tremendous 2-11, 20-18, 9-11, 13-11, 11-8 match over Jumbo freshman Aaron Hernandez (Washington, DC).
This was the final team match of the season for Tufts, which finished with an 8-14 record.
