Advani Wins Opening Match at College Squash Association Individual Championships

HARTFORD, CT - Freshman Aditya Advani (New Delhi, India) of the Tufts men's squash team defeated Dartmouth's Christopher Jung in the opening round of the 2013 College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championships on Friday at Trinity College.

Playing in the Molloy (B) Division, representing the 33rd through 64th individual seeds for the tournament, Advani won a back-and-forth five-game match against Jung 11-6, 8-11, 11-8, 8-11, 11-8.

Advancing to the round of 32 later on Friday, Advani faced Molloy Division #1 seed Abdel Maksoud from Columbia and played well in an 11-7, 14-12, 9-11, 12-10 loss.

That dropped Advani into the consolation draw, where he won two out of three matches. He defeated Princeton's David Hoffman 11-4, 11-6, 9-11, 11-8, in a second-round consolation match on Saturday morning. In the consolation quarterfinals later on Saturday, Advani won another four-game match against Middlebury's Jay Dolan 11-8, 8-11, 11-4, 11-8.

In the consolation semi-finals, he was eliminated by Trinity's Zeyad Elshorfy in a 12-10, 11-5, 5-11, 11-5 final.

An All-NESCAC second team pick this season, the competition ends the 2012-13 season for Advani and Tufts Men's Squash.
