Junior Zachary Schweitzer notched a win for the Jumbos against Haverford

NEW HAVEN, CT – With a win over Haverford on Sunday, the Tufts men's squash team finished the opening weekend of their 2014 schedule on a winning note. The men defeated the Fords 6-3 on Sunday, after beating Denison but losing to Drexel on Saturday.
The Tufts men won in three games in the first through fourth positions. Sophomore Aditya Advani (New Dehli, India) won in the number one position, 11-3, 11-7, 11-0. Junior Zachary Schweitzer (Huntingdon Valley, PA) earned the win in the number two slot, beating his Ford opponent, 11-8, 11-7, 11-5. Freshman Josh Lee (Seoul, Korea) played in the third position, beating William Greer, 11-6, 11-3, 11-5. Just as dominant in the number fourth spot was junior Elliot Kardon (Weston, MA), beating his Haverford counterpart, 11-9, 11-2, 11-3.
Sophomore Brandon Weiss (Phoenix, MD) notched the win in the number fifth spot, but it took him four games to do so, as Ford counterpart Matthew Rohn was able to win the second game, 11-3, 8-11, 11-5, 11-6. Junior Hugo Meggitt (Princeton, NJ) wrapped up the wins for the Jumbos in the number six position, topping Haverford's Jonathan Nguyen, 11-6, 11-8, 11-8.
The Jumbos weren't able to secure wins in the seventh through ninth spots, as senior Jeremy Aronson (Amherst, MA), freshman Owen Elliott (New York, NY) and fellow classmate Daniel Fischer (Lexington, MA) lost their matches.
The Jumbo men return to the courts on Friday, January 24 as they travel to take on Vassar at 6:30 pm. They will then square off with NESCAC rivals Colby and Conn. College the following day.
