Junior Elloiot Kardon contributed to the Jumbos win over Vassar

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The Tufts men's squash team opened up a busy weekend on a strong note, convincingly beating Vassar, 9-0, on Friday night at Kenyon Hall. The Jumbos swept the Brewer's and will now travel to New Haven, Conn. to take on NESCAC rivals Conn. College and Colby on Saturday.
The Jumbos handled the Brewers in the first through sixth spots, as no Brewer player managed to score more than 14 points across three games in these positions. In the number one slot, sophomore Aditya Advani (New Dehli, India) topped Vassar's Ricardo Espinosa, 11-3, 11-6, 11-5. Junior Zach Schweitzer (Huntingdon Valley, PA) won in the number two position in three straight games, 11-3, 11-2, 11-2.
In the number three position, Josh Lee (Seoul, Korea) handed David Garfinkel the three game loss, 11-3, 11-3, 11-4. Junior Elliot Kardon (Weston, MA) won by just as large a margin in the number four position, 11-3, 11-0, 11-1, as sophomore Brandon Weiss (Phoenix, MD) also won in three games in the number five position, 11-1, 11-5, 11-5.
Junior Hugo Meggitt (Princeton, NJ) needed just three games in the number six spot, beating Tim Veit, 11-5, 11-0, 11-3. Senior Jeremy Aronson (Amherst, MA) lost the first game in the number seven slot but came back to beat Noah Kulick, 6-11, 11-3, 11-1, 11-7. Freshman Owen Elliott (New York, NY) battled in the number eight position, but won in three games, 11-5, 11-2, 11-8. Rounding out the scoring for the Jumbos was Junior Jamieson Breig (Westport, CT) in the nine spot, winning 11-6, 11-1, 8-11, 11-5.
The Jumbos have little rest as they will be back in action at 9:00 am Saturday morning to take on Colby, followed by a 2:30 pm match with Conn. College.
