Rookie Josh Lee played in the fourth position for the Jumbos

CLINTON, NY – The men's squash team competed in the first round of the NESCAC Squash Championship on Friday night at the Little Squash Center on the campus of Hamilton College. The Jumbo men lost to #6 seeded Bowdoin, 9-0. They will now participate in the consolation rounds of the tournament.
The Jumbos will take on Conn. College at 9:30 am. The Camels lost to Amherst, 7-2, in the opening round of play. The morning match will be followed by a 3:00 pm showdown with Hamilton, who lost to Colby in the opening round of play.
Sophomore Aditya Advani (New Dehli, India) played in the number one spot for the Jumbos but was unable to beat Stephan Danyluk of Bowdoin, falling in three games. Junior Zach Schweitzer (Huntingdon Valley, PA) played in the number two position and scored 22 points across his three game loss. Freshman Josh Lee (Seoul, Korea) had the closest match of the competition in the number three position, forcing four games with Reid Wilson, but falling, 11-3, 10-12, 11-8, 11-8.
Junior Elliot Kardon (Weston, MA) put 20 points on the board in his three game loss in the number four position. Sophomore Brandon Weiss (Phoenix, MD) played in the number five position, but wasn't able to top his Polar Bear counterpart. In the number six position, Hugo Meggitt (Princeton, NJ) had trouble with Bowdoin's Maxwell Bearse.
Senior Jeremy Aronson (Amherst, MA), freshman Owen Elliott (New York, NY) and fellow classmate Danny Fischer (Lexington, MA) played in the seventh through ninth spots, respectively, but weren't able to beat their Bowdoin opponents.
Consolation bracket play begins Saturday at 9:00 am and will be held at Colgate University. After the consolation play of the tournament the Jumbos will take the courts again on February 5 when they travel to MIT for a 7:00 pm match followed by an 8:00 pm match with Northeastern the following day.
