CLINTON, N.Y. – For the second time in less than 24 hours the men's squash team took the courts and received wins from junior tri-captain Aditya Advani, senior and fellow tri-captain Zachary Schweitzer and freshman Braden Chiulli, but it wasn't enough as the Jumbos fell to Hamilton, 6-3, on Saturday afternoon.
Advani's match was three games in the first position, but they were three close games as he topped Teddy Black, 11-8, 11-9, 11-8. Schweitzer had a little bit more work to do in the second position, going to five games with Josh Wolpert, but earning the hard fought win, 12-1-, 11-3, 5-11, 6-11, 11-8. Similarly, in the third position, Chiulli won two games before allowing Carter Sanders to come back into the match and win two games to pull away for the win in the fifth game, 11-7 for the third Jumbo point.
In the seventh position, senior Hugo Meggitt came three points away from beating Addison Morse, as the match went to five games but the Continental won, 8-11, 11-7, 11-7, 6-11, 11-8. In the ninth position, Danny Fischer won a game, but wasn't able to top Atticus Jones, 12-14, 11-8, 11-5, 11-3. Senior tri-captain Elliot Kardon won a game in the fifth position after he was down two games to Peter Harrison. But, the Jumbo wasn't able to keep that momentum and ended up falling, 11-9, 11-8, 9-11, 11-5.
Rookie Sandeep Rishi faced off with Mac Pivirotto in the fourth position and scored 20 points across three games, but fell by scores of 11-7, 11-6, 11-7. Similarly, classmate Alec Goodrich's match in the sixth position was three games, but those three were incredibly close but just didn't fall in the Jumbos' favor (11-9, 11-8, 11-9). Sophomore Owen Elliott played in the eighth position, but wasn't able to top his Continental opponent.
With the loss the Jumbos move to 1-3 on the season and will be back in action on Sunday when they travel to Middlebury for a 2:00 pm match with the Panthers.
