MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The men's squash team took on NESCAC rival and #19 Middlebury on Sunday to close out a busy week, but the Jumbos weren't able to top the Panthers, falling 9-0. The men started the week with a win over MIT and then fell to Connecticut College and Hamilton before they took on the Panthers.
Junior tri-captain Aditya Advani played in the number one spot for the Jumbos but fell to Andrew Jung 11-2, 11-6, 11-5. First-year Braden Chiulli played the closest match of the day in the number two position, but fell to Andrew Cadienhead, 12-10, 11-9, 11-5. In the third position, rookie Sandeep Rishi played Wyatt French but wasn't able to secure a win.
The fourth position match featured senior tri-captain Elliot Kardon and Harrison Croll, but Croll was able to earn the win for the Panthers. Freshman Alexander Goodrich played William Hanley in the fifth position but wasn't able to top the Panther. In the sixth position, senior Hugo Meggitt took on David Cromwell but wasn't able to earn a win for the Jumbos.
Sophomore Owen Elliott, freshman John Patrick and sophomore Austin Brush took the courts in the seventh, eighth and ninth spot, respectively, but were all topped by their Middlebury counterparts.
The Jumbos are now 1-4 on the season after the busy week. They will take a small break for the Thanksgiving holiday and will take the courts again on December 5 when they travel to take on Vassar at 6:30 pm.
